Direct physical to virtual conversion

Converts directly from a running Windows server to a virtual server. No CD, floppy disk, or reboot required.

Resizes NTFS partitions and virtual disks.

Record and schedule conversions

The conversion parameters can be recorded and replayed automatically at a preset time or on a regular schedule.

Parallel conversions

No training

A highly automated conversion process, with all of the logic and conversion rules built in, enables both developers and IT professionals to perform conversions without the need to attend costly and tie consuming training sessions. The P>V Wizard guides the user, automatically making the right decisions for that hardware, transfers the disks, and reboots the virtual server into the transferred operating system - leaving only the installation of the virtualization tools.

Components

P>V Direct has two key components:

P>V Wizard

The Wizard is installed and run on the origin server. It profiles the machine and instructs the Host Agent on the destination server running the virtualization software to create the appropriate virtual server. The wizard automatically uninstalls on the virtual server after conversion, and it can be completely uninstalled from the physical server after the conversion process.

Host Agent

The Leostream Host Agents are installed on the destination server running the virtualization software. Virtualization platforms support includes VMware ESX 2.x and GSX 3.x for Windows, as well as Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2.

Compatibility

The P>V Wizard is compatible with Windows NT4 server and terminal server with service pack 6 or 6a, Windows 2000 (all Service Packs), Windows XP (Service Pack 1), Windows 2003. There is limited support for simple dynamic disks. The Leostream Host Agent for Windows is compatible with all versions of Windows 2000; Windows XP Professional (all Service Packs); and Windows Server 2003. The Leostream Host Agent for ESX is compatible with VMware ESX Server v2.x.

Versions

P>V Direct 2.0 is licensed either for a one-off conversion of a machine, or for repeated conversions from that machine (for backup and D/R).
